I purchased this as a solution to extend a video camera for our church service to the nursery area as our old coax relay system failed. The online description says to use an "unmanaged switch". I reached out to the vendor, gofanco, as I use an Aruba Mobility Controller with 24 Gigabit Ethernet Ports which is more than capable to keeping up with any traffic that we can push. Here is their response...

"We recommend Unmanaged switches to remove any possible conflicts with management software. It should work fine with Managed switches if our boxes have no network restrictions. We also recommend Dedicated switches because video data transmission takes up a lot of bandwidth and it may interfere with other networking nodes from working properly."

I created a dedicated Layer 2 VLAN which logically segregates the traffic from everything else and so far so good. You can see some compression in the image, but ultimately it wasn''t terribly bad and certainly perfect for our needs.

I''ll update my review should any issues arise.

**EDIT**. Updating my review from 3 stars to 4 stars as manufacturer has made it clear in the description that it does only two channel audio.

If you are Ok with two channel audio, and the IR delay, this is a solid product.

This does the basic job of extending HDMI using Ethernet cables, and works fine at that. But it has some significant drawbacks which were a deal breaker for me.

1. It will not do multi channel audio. It down mixes everything to two channel audio. This is not documented anywhere. I wasn''t expecting this.

2. The IR repeater is very slow and intermittent.

3. It seems to compress the video and degrade the picture quality a little bit. Now this may have just been my perception, but I noticed it.

I could live with (2) and (3), but (1) was a deal breaker.

I used this to extend my cable box (which is connected to a 1080p TV) to a home theater projector on another floor of my house to save on renting a 2nd cable HD box since I never use the projector and the TV at the same time. The TV is a newer 1080p input, the projector is an older 1080i input. I''m using a 1 to 2 HDMI splitter at the cable box so I don''t have to switch HDMI cables when I use the projector and herein lies the problem. The cable box automatically sets the output to the best possible output which was the 1080p TV, but the projector could not decode this. The fix was to manually set the cable box output to 1080i. This kinda "dumbs down" the output for the 1080p TV, but it''s the only solution. The HDMI splitter was not the problem though because even with the extender connected directly to the cable box and projector, the cable box would not automatically detect the needed output of 1080i projector. Apparently, that feedback doesn''t happen over the extender so the short story is, if it''s not handshaking the HDMI signal, make sure you MANUALLY set the output to match your display''s input. If you''re splitting a signal between 2 devices and one is 1080i, you''re going to have to manually set the output to 1080i and the 1080p device will suffer in quality slightly. Noteworthy: I extended with 100'' of cat 7 cable. I am not using the IR extender feature because my cable remote is radio and can reach the cable box without it. Hope this helps

This is a great solution for those with FIOS. Before buying this solution, I was paying monthly for digital adapters for TV''s in the kitchen and the back porch. Not only were the signals in low definition, but I had no access to the FIOS server and couldn''t set up or watch DVR recordings. I purchased an extra Gofanco receiver and use the HD FIOS cable box in the office to send HDMI signals to both TV''s. I mounted the IR receiver on the front of the cable box in the office, and the FIOS box in the office can now be controlled from the kitchen or the back porch using the FIOS remotes. As promised in the documentation, I was able to send the ethernet signal through one router in the office and a second router in the kitchen (they say "n" routers can be in line). Everything worked great the first time it was powered up.

I ordered one transmitter/receiver kit, as well as a couple of standalone receivers.
In my home, I use a separate media VLAN for music and video. I plugged the transmitter into it, and connected a Chromecast to the transmitter.
Then I connected the receivers to it, and connected them to my displays. (Neither the kit nor the standalone receivers include HDMI cables, so you may want to pick up a few.)
The transmitter and receivers all found each other immediately, and I was casting Netflix from a tablet to the Chromecast to three displays in no time.
From start to finish, setup for one transmitter and three receivers took about 45 minutes - including the time it took me to unpack everything, plug everything in, set up the Chromecast, etc.
No configuration of the devices is necessary or possible; they appear to use network broadcast to find each other, and then multicast to stream from a single transmitter to up to 30 receivers. They support up to 1080i/1080p.
I''m network savvy, and they work well for me, but I see no reason why they wouldn''t work for non technical people. They''re literally plug and play.
Very impressed.

This appears to work great, so far. Will be adding a receiver soon to see if it still performs good. I almost sent this back.
My house is setup with with Ethernet everywhere as I have several IP Cameras and a dozen computers and smart TV devices and everything is on the wired network and has an IP. Didn''t work when I first hooked it up. was connected through 3 unmanaged switches. Isolated the problem as a TP-Link 5-port gigabit switch. any way I connected through the TP-Link, the signal couldn''t get through. Works great going through a chain of DLINK 10/100/1000 8-port and Netgear 10/100/1000 5- port and 8-port and with a direct cat-6 cable connected. I suspect the signal would not make the trip if it was routed through my router. Not gonna try it.
UPDATE: Got a second receiver and had to run a new Ethernet cable bypassing the last Switch for the second receiver. It seemed that the extra (2nd) load on the stream/network caused the data to become intermittent and the audio to be discarded. Gonna keep it at 4 stars. So far, any slow down of other network traffic is unnoticeable, especially those devices that only connect as 100MB connection speeds. Note: My DLINK router has indicator LED s for each cable connection that glow green for 1000MB connections and orange for slower connection speeds. These (Extender Over IP) devices connections register as orange on the DLINK 10/100/1000 switches.

I bought this to connect an HDMI cable box to 3 TV''s. IR remote works well. A/V sync is fine. It works well for all types of TV watching, including sports.

I previously tried another system and it turned out to be capable of 30p only: DISTANCER HDMI Extender by TCP/IP Over Ethernet Over Single Cat5e Cat6 Cable Up to 395ft(120m) with IR, Support 1080p HDMI 1.3, HDCP 1.2, TCP/IP Standard - (Transmitter and Receiver Set)

This GOFANCO system handles 60p properly so it''s great for sports.

One important note though - 720p60 and 1080i60 remain 60p, but 1080p60 ended up as 1080p30, at least in my tests. Note that I am using this with smaller 720p TV''s so it could have been a limitation of the TV''s not the GOFANCO system. In any case I used 720p60 on the source cable box and called it done.

I did notice that the IR remote had a little more lag than I would''ve liked. I don''t know if it was actually IR remote lag, or picture lag from the source. In any case it is acceptable.

UPDATE: The delay is mentioned in the specifications on the listing. Because of this, Ive raised the rating to 4 stars because it does exactly as it is supposed to do. Just know that there is a half second of delay.

Installed this extender in our church sanctuary where the projector is 20 feet in the air. After installation (not realizing the latency) I noticed the delay, AFTER I have already put everything away (Giant ladder). The video lags about a half second (maybe more) behind the source. Since my audio comes directly from the source, this means that the video is a half second behind the audio. Now, Ive got to drag the ladder out again and climb 20 feet in the air to change to a different extender. For me, it is useless.
Aside from the latency, the picture quality is great.
One star because the latency is not mentioned in the description.
